Soccer Game Preview: West vs. Chavez

The West Vikings will be taking part in a tournament against the Chavez Titans at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty goal totals in their previous games.

West's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. Everything went their way against Wonderful College Prep Academy as West made off with a 5-0 win. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Vikings' offense, which had struggled in the games prior.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Chavez). They blew past Wonderful College Prep Academy 9-0 on Friday. Considering the Titans' offense had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Chavez's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2-2. As for West, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

West came out on top in a nail-biter against Chavez in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, sneaking past 1-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for West since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
