Swartz Creek had lost five games on the road dating back to last season, but after bumping their record up to 2-6 on Friday that streak is in the rearview. They won a matchup that couldn't have been any closer, slipping by the Clio Mustangs 21-20. This was payback for the Dragons, who suffered a 62-30 loss the last time these two teams met.

Swartz Creek didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Damien Trantham.

As for Clio, they dropped their record down to 4-4 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home. Those home losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 37.0 points over those games.

Despite the loss, Clio still got an impressive performance from D'Marion Erlenbeck, who rushed for 162 yards and one touchdown on only 15 carries, and also threw for 80 yards and one TD. Erlenbeck really tore up the turf during one magnificent 80-yard run.

Looking ahead, Swartz Creek will challenge Glenn at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Clio, they will take on Lakeville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Mustangs will be up against the Falcons' rather soft defense (which has allowed 29.75 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
