Baseball Game Preview: Southwest Patriots vs. Rutland Hurricanes

Southwest is 1-8 against Rutland since February of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Patriots will venture away from home to challenge the Hurricanes at 4:30 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Southwest is headed into Thursday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their ninth straight game on Tuesday. They took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of Jefferson County.

Meanwhile, Rutland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat. They lost 15-0 to Crawford County. That's two games in a row now that the Hurricanes have lost by exactly 15 runs.

Rutland's loss dropped their record down to 7-13-1. As for Southwest, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-15.

Southwest came up short against Rutland in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, falling 5-1. Can the Patriots avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
