Football Recap: Long Island Lutheran Comes Up Short

Long Island Lutheran was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 26-21 heartbreaker at the hands of the St. Luke's Storm. The Crusaders were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Storm apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in November of 2024.

Xavier O'Brady threw for 48 yards. Kaiere Griffin was his top target, picking up 50 receiving yards.

Dylan Schorpp looked great while leading his team to the win, throwing for 304 yards and three TDs while completing 73.5% of his passes. What's more, he racked up 117.8 passer rating, the most he's had since back in October of 2024.

Long Island Lutheran's defeat dropped their record down to 1-7. As for St. Luke's, their victory bumped their record up to 3-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Long Island Lutheran will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Varsity Opponent at 12:00 p.m. on November 8. As for St. Luke's, they will look to defend their home field on Saturday against Peddie at 2:00 p.m. The Storm will be up against the Falcons' rather soft defense (which has allowed 31.67 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
