Baseball Recap: Bryan County Comes Up Short

Bryan County dropped down to 15-14 on Monday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They lost 6-0 to the Islands Sharks. The Redskins were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Sharks earlier this season, when they won 10-6.

As for Islands, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-17. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games.

For Islands' part, Dylan Stewart made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 12 over 5.2 innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Stewart has posted since back in March. He was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs while going 2-for-4. He has become a key player for Islands: the team is undefeated when he posts at least one home run, but 6-17 otherwise.

In other batting news, Mason McLaughlin was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Looking ahead, Bryan County will square off against Bluffton at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Islands, they will challenge Groves at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
