Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Prairie City-Monroe couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They came up short against the Wahlert Golden Eagles on Wednesday, falling 7-1. The Mustangs' loss signaled the end of their seven-game winning streak.

Prairie City-Monroe's defeat dropped their record down to 26-5. As for Wahlert, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 19-4.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Prairie City-Monroe will face off against Albia on Friday. The Blue Demons' pitching crew has only allowed 1.2 runs per game this season, so the Mustangs' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Wahlert, they will take on Williamsburg on Friday. The Raiders will roll in looking for their 11th straight win, something the Golden Eagles surely won't give up without a fight.
