Softball Recap: Fairview Takes a Loss

Fairview had lost 15 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped down to 7-10 to make it 16. They came up short against the Legacy Lightning, falling 14-1. The Knights were not able to make up for their defeat to the Lightning from their previous meeting back in September of 2024.

As for Legacy, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 8-8. That looming 14-1 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for them yet this season.

For Legacy's part, Prisca Smolens was a standout: she got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Valerie Elkins, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and one double.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fairview will host Loveland at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Knights' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Red Wolves have averaged an impressive 7.1 runs per game this season. As for Legacy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Boulder at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Panthers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 18.25 runs per game on average), something the Lightning will no doubt try to take advantage of.
