Football Recap: Blackhawk Takes a Loss

After soaring to 49 points the game before, Blackhawk was a bit more limited in their contest on Friday. They came up short against the Montour Spartans, falling 28-7. The game marked the Cougars' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Jack Chevalier threw for 46 yards on seven of 14 attempts. On the ground, Brayden McCarthy rushed for 67 yards.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Montour to victory, but perhaps none more so than Zander Stern, who picked up 128 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns. Stern showed off some serious burst, lighting up the secondary with a catch for 60 yards. Brandon Bennett was another key signal caller, throwing for 231 yards and three TDs while completing 77.8% of his passes.

Blackhawk's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Montour, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season.

Blackhawk will look to defend their home field on Friday against Ambridge at 7:00 p.m. The Cougars will be up against the Bridgers' rather soft defense (which has allowed 38.83 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Montour, they will head out on the road to face off against New Castle at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Hurricanes' defense has only allowed 7.2 points per game this season, so the Spartans' offense will have their work cut out for them.
