Basketball Recap: Whittier Comes Up Short

Whittier lost against El Rancho two weeks ago and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Whittier Cardinals fell 48-36 to the El Rancho Dons. The Cardinals have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

When it comes to explaining why Whittier lost, don't look at Andrea Castillo. Despite the final result, she went 9 for 18 en route to 20 points along with eight boards and four steals. That's the most rebounds Castillo has posted since back in December of 2024.

Even though they lost, Whittier smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in six consecutive games.

Whittier's defeat dropped their record down to 9-17. As for El Rancho, they pushed their record up to 20-8 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.

As of now, neither Whittier nor El Rancho have any future games scheduled.
