Softball Game Preview: South Cobb Eagles vs. McEachern Indians

South Cobb is preparing for their first region matchup of the season on Tuesday. They will square off against the McEachern Indians at 5:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

South Cobb took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out New Manchester 11-10.

Janiya Fields made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up six earned runs off seven hits. Fields was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, South Cobb got a massive performance out of Gabby Kitchens, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those four hits gave Kitchens a new career-high. Olivia McDonald was another key player, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double.

Meanwhile, McEachern beat Wheeler 10-6 on Thursday.

The win got McEachern back to even at 1-1. As for South Cobb, the victory also got them back to even at 1-1.

South Cobb might still be hurting after the 17-2 loss they got from McEachern in their previous meeting back in September of 2024. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
