Holtville falls despite strong effort from Vanessa Gonzalez

Recap: Holtville Vikings vs. Imperial Tigers

The Holtville Vikings's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They suffered a tough 43-18 defeat at the hands of Imperial. Holtville has struggled against Imperial recently, as their match on Thursday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the loss, Holtville still got an impressive performance from Vanessa Gonzalez, who scored nine points along with nine rebounds and five blocks. Gonzalez is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last eight games she's played. Another player making a difference was Jasmine Garewal, who scored six points along with ten rebounds.

It was another big night for Nayeli Cardona, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 steals for Imperial. That makes it five consecutive games in which Cardona has scored at least a third of Imperial's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddie Magdaleno, who scored four points along with nine rebounds and six steals.

Holtville has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season. As for Imperial, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-10.

Holtville will head out on the road to take on Santana at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Santana is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home. Imperial will take on Beverly Hills at 1:30 p.m. on Monday.
