Baseball Recap: Athens Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

Athens waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They walked away with a 5-1 victory over the Groves Falcons. For the Red Hawks, this counts as revenge for the 3-0 win the Falcons walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2023.

Grayson Conrad made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one triple and one RBI. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jack Bouren, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple was his first of the season.

Athens' victory bumped their record up to 23-7. As for Groves, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-14 record this season.

Athens will challenge Utica at 3:00 p.m. on the 29th. As for Groves, they will take on Berkley at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
