Softball Recap: Union Grove Takes a Loss

Union Grove blew Ola out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Tuesday Ola got their revenge. The Wolverines fell just short of the Mustangs by a score of 9-7. The Wolverines were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mustangs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Alisha Cattuzzo was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up four earned runs off seven hits (and not a single walk).

On the hitting side, Lauren Jordan was cooking despite her team's loss, going 4-for-5 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Aniyah Griffin, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.

Union Grove's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Ola, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-0.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Union Grove will face off against rival McDonough at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Ola is set to challenge their familiar foe Woodland at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
