Soccer Game Preview: Whitefield Academy vs. Lovett

The Whitefield Academy WolfPack will head out on the road to face off against the Lovett Lions at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Whitefield Academy is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They never let North Cobb Christian get on the board and left with a 5-0 victory. The high-scoring effort was just what Whitefield Academy needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Lovett, who bounced back after a loss on the road on April 11th. Everything went their way against Mount Pisgah Christian on Friday as they made off with a 9-1 win. With Lovett ahead 7-0 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

They hit Mount Pisgah Christian with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Hill Mauldin (4), Brendan Pitfield (3), Teo Demenkow, and Bryce Bennett.

Whitefield Academy is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 26 goals over those nine contests. As for Lovett, their win bumped their record up to 8-9.

Whitefield Academy skirted past Lovett 2-1 when the teams last played on April 1st. The rematch might be a little tougher for the WolfPack since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
