Basketball Game Preview: South Hills Huskies vs. Alta Loma Braves

The South Hills Huskies will head out to take on the Alta Loma Braves at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.

South Hills is headed into the contest having just suffered their biggest defeat since December 4, 2023 on Wednesday. They had to suffer through a 69-30 loss at the hands of San Dimas. While losing is never fun, the Huskies can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 587th, while the Saints are ranked 291st).

Meanwhile, Alta Loma hadn't done well against Colony recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. Alta Loma took down Colony 61-42. The Braves pushed the score to 50-24 by the end of the third, a deficit the Titans cut but never quite recovered from.

South Hills better keep an eye on Mia Valle. She was instrumental in Alta Loma's win, going 10 of 23 en route to 31 points and five steals. Valle's evening made it seven games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Britain Hall was another key player, putting up 15 points.

This is the second loss in a row for South Hills and nudges their season record down to 11-12. As for Alta Loma, their victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 10-6.

Everything went South Hills' way against Alta Loma when the teams last played back in November of 2018, as South Hills made off with a 55-31 win. Does South Hills have another victory up their sleeve, or will Alta Loma turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
