Basketball Game Preview: San Pasqual Golden Eagles vs. Castle Park Trojans

The San Pasqual Golden Eagles will take on the Castle Park Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. San Pasqual is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.

San Pasqual is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Valley Center on Thursday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. San Pasqual lost 52-29 to Valley Center.

Despite their defeat, San Pasqual saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Jackie Perez, who posted 15 points, was perhaps the best of all. That was a full 51.7% of San Pasqual's points, marking the 15th time in a row Perez has scored more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Sophia Myers, who earned nine points.

Meanwhile, it was close, but on Thursday Castle Park sidestepped Mar Vista for a 33-31 win.

San Pasqual better focus on containing Monserrat Medrano and Leilani Roche as the pair were huge in Castle Park's win. Medrano put up 13 points along with seven boards and four steals, while Roche had nine points in addition to five rebounds and four steals. That's the most steals Medrano has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrea Garcia-Dumer, who scored four points.

San Pasqual's loss dropped their record down to 6-11. As for Castle Park, their victory bumped their record up to 11-14.

San Pasqual strolled past Castle Park in their previous matchup back in December of 2022 by a score of 35-18. Does San Pasqual have another victory up their sleeve, or will Castle Park turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
