Football Recap: Make It Nine in a Row for Trego

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Trego had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They didn't even let the St. Francis Indians on the board, marking their second-straight 50-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Golden Eagles, who have now won six matchups by 46 points or more so far this season.

Leading Trego to victory were Jack Conness and Ashton Wynn. Conness gained 194 total yards and two touchdowns, while Wynn rushed for 73 yards and four scores. Wynn also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, forcing one fumble and making nine total tackles. Vladon Crawford made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.

Trego's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Conness, Cass Smith, and Jared Aschenbrenner, who each picked up one sack apiece. Crawford got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

The win keeps Trego at an undefeated 9-0. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 13.1 points on average this season. As for St. Francis, their loss dropped their record down to 5-4.

Looking ahead, Trego will welcome Kiowa County at 7:00 p.m. on the 7th. The Golden Eagles will need to watch out since the Mavericks have now posted at least 31 points in their last three contests. St. Francis does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
