Basketball Game Preview: Madison Warhawks vs. Rancho Buena Vista Longhorns

Having just played yesterday, the Madison Warhawks will jump right back in to play the Rancho Buena Vista Longhorns at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. Madison hasn't scored more than 23 points for three games straight, a trend the team is eager to reverse.

Madison is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Patrick Henry on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Madison was outmatched by Patrick Henry and fell 48-17. The Warhawks were down 34-9 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Rancho Buena Vista, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They simply couldn't be stopped on Thursday as they easily beat Valley Center 64-17. The matchup marked the Longhorns' most dominant win of the season.

Rancho Buena Vista's win came from a few key players Madison will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Kylie Salzler, who went 6 for 10 from beyond the arc on her way to 19 points and three steals. What's more, she also racked up two blocks, the most she's had since back in December of 2023. Camille Dake was another key player, putting up 12 points along with seven rebounds and five assists.

Madison's defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Rancho Buena Vista, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 10-6.
