Basketball Recap: Northwestern Picks Up Second Consecutive Win

Northwestern won the last time they faced Union City and Makayla Presser-Palmer did her part to make sure it happened again. The Wildcats blew past the Bears 51-30 on Monday thanks in part to Presser-Palmer, who dropped a double-double with 25 points and 13 boards. The matchup was her 28th in a row with at least 15 points.

Morgan Gorzynski was another key player, putting up nine points and three steals. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.

Several Bears players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ellieanna Hunter, who posted eight points. Another player making a difference was Ava Greer, who put up six points.

The victory made it two in a row for Northwestern and bumps their season record up to 4-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.0 points over those games. As for Union City, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.

Northwestern and Brentwood Academy will compete for holiday cheer at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Wildcats 29.2, the Eagles 29.9) so any points scored will be well earned. Union City will take on Saegertown in a holiday battle at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
