Basketball Game Preview: Shadow Ridge Stallions vs. Apollo Hawks

Shadow Ridge is 0-4 against Apollo since December of 2014 but things could change on Tuesday. The Shadow Ridge Stallions will host the Apollo Hawks at 7:00 p.m.

On Friday, Shadow Ridge came up short against West Point and fell 62-49. While losing is never fun, the Stallions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 157th, while the Dragons are ranked 27th).

Meanwhile, Apollo can bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They took down Tolleson 60-46.

Shadow Ridge better keep an eye on Cristian Acevedo. He was instrumental in Apollo's win, dropping a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds. That's the most points Acevedo has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Eliijah White, who went 6 of 10 en route to 12 points and five steals.

Apollo's victory bumped their record up to 9-10. As for Shadow Ridge, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-11.

Shadow Ridge suffered a grim 54-33 defeat to Apollo in their previous meeting back in December of 2017. Thankfully for Shadow Ridge, Emmanual Taban (who went 7 for 14 on his way to 24 points) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
