Basketball Game Preview: Coleville Wolves vs. Sage Ridge Scorpions

Coleville is 10-0 against Sage Ridge since January of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. The Coleville Wolves will host the Sage Ridge Scorpions at 4:00 p.m. Coleville will be strutting in after a victory while Sage Ridge will be coming in after a loss.

In Wednesday's Canine Competition, Coleville prevailed. They put the hurt on Mammoth with a sharp 38-18 win on Wednesday. Given the Wolves' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 69th, while the Huskies are ranked 1138th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Coleville found their leader in freshman Kenna Lange, who posted five points along with 15 boards and five steals. Lange also set a new season-high mark in blocks with three. Ashley Tovar was another key player, putting up six points and seven steals.

Coleville smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Meanwhile, Sage Ridge was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They had to suffer through a 73-35 loss at the hands of Pyramid Lake.

Coleville's victory bumped their record up to 5-7. As for Sage Ridge, they now have a losing record at 3-4.

Coleville took their win against Sage Ridge when the teams last played back in January of 2024 by a conclusive 51-29. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Sage Ridge's Sophia Soran, who dropped a triple-double on 19 points, ten rebounds, and ten steals.
