Football Game Preview: O'Connor Panthers vs. Holmes Huskies

O'Connor is on a three-game streak of home losses, and Holmes an eight-game streak of away losses dating back to last season. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Thursday. The O'Connor Panthers will host the Holmes Huskies at 7:00 p.m. Holmes took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on O'Connor, who comes in off a win.

Having struggled with three defeats in a row, O'Connor turned things around against Marshall on Friday. They strolled past the Rams with points to spare, taking the game 24-7.

O'Connor relied on the efforts of Jake Garza, who rushed for 39 yards and two TDs, and Wyatt McKenzie, who rushed for 105 yards and one score. Those two rushing touchdowns gave Garza a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Holmes fell victim to Brennan and their airtight defense on Friday. They were outmatched by the Bears and fell 69-0. While losing is never fun, the Huskies can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 873rd, while the Bears are ranked 77th).

Holmes' loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for O'Connor, their victory bumped their record up to 2-5.

O'Connor strolled past Holmes in their previous meeting back in October of 2024 by a score of 35-20. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Huskies have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
