Basketball Game Preview: Nazareth Academy vs. Neumann-Goretti Saints

On Tuesday, Nazareth Academy came up short against West Catholic and fell 57-47. Nazareth Academy has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Neumann-Goretti came tearing into Tuesday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 34 points) and they left with even more momentum. They claimed a resounding 81-26 victory over St. Hubert Catholic for Girls. That looming 81-26 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Saints yet this season.

Neumann-Goretti's win came from a few key players Nazareth Academy will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Amya Scott, who posted 19 points and four steals. Those 19 points gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Carryn Easley, who put up 14 points and five assists.

Neumann-Goretti has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.4 points per game. As for Nazareth Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-7.

Nazareth Academy skirted past Neumann-Goretti 45-43 in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Easley, who scored 23 points along with seven rebounds and five assists.
