Basketball Recap: Centennial's Winning Streak Snapped at Seven Games

It was a good run, but Centennial unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell 49-37 to the Immanuel Eagles. The Golden Hawks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2014.

Despite the loss, Centennial saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Shekinah (Kai) Shaw posted 15 points and five steals. The matchup was Shaw's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Aubrey Baldoz was another key player, putting up no points along with nine boards and four steals.

Centennial's defeat dropped their record down to 8-5. As for Immanuel, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season.

Centennial will venture away from home to take on Tehachapi at 6:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025. Tehachapi is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.7 points per game this season. As for Immanuel, they will welcome Clovis North at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Immanuel is coming into the game hot, having won their last five games.
