Mitchell is 8-1 against River Ridge since August of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Mustangs will welcome the Royal Knights at 7:30 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
The home team had come away the winner the last five times Mitchell and Land O' Lakes had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Mustangs secured a 21-17 W over the Gators on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Mustangs in their matchups with the Gators: they've now won three in a row.
The match pitted two dominant signal callers against one another in Cayden Thomas and Chance Houston. Thomas had a great game and rushed for 59 yards and two scores on only six carries. Meanwhile, Houston did his best for the losing side, throwing for 263 yards and a pair of TDs, while also rushing for 40 yards.

Meanwhile, River Ridge took their game on Friday with ease, bagging a 30-3 victory over Countryside. The result was nothing new for the Royal Knights, who have now won four matchups by 21 points or more so far this season.
River Ridge's win came from a few key players Mitchell will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Nicholas Cavazza, who threw for 223 yards and one touchdown while completing 93.3% of his passes, and also punched in one score on the ground. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in passer rating (154.2). Jonah Clouse helped Cavazza out on the ground, rushing for 55 yards and a pair of TDs.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something River Ridge proved: they limited Countryside to a paltry 1.2 yards per carry. The team can thank Nicolas Rauckhorst for the heroic effort on defense: he. River Ridge's ground attack was stronger, having averaged 3.5.
River Ridge's defense didn't let Cam Waddington, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for 4.5 sacks. Leading the way was Jackson Reed with three. Those three sacks set a new season-high mark for him. Another thorn in Countryside's side was Rauckhorst, who forced one fumble, made seven total tackles, and defended two passes.
Mitchell's win bumped their record up to 4-2. As for River Ridge, their victory bumped their record up to 6-0.
Friday's contest might be decided in the trenches. Mitchell has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 158 rushing yards per game. It's a different story for River Ridge, though, as they've been averaging only 49.7 rushing yards. How will they fare against such a dominant running game?
