Basketball Recap: Poema Strong Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Eastlake

High Tech SD posted their closest win since January 10th on Monday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Eastlake Titans, sneaking past 53-51.

High Tech SD's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Poema Strong led the charge by putting up 22 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Strong has scored at least a third of the Storm's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aliya Khalighi, who posted 17 points.

Despite the loss, Eastlake still got an impressive performance from McKenna Nafarrete, who earned 27 points and eight steals. The matchup was Nafarrete's third in a row with at least 18 points. Another player making a difference was Ava Ellorin, who put up seven points in addition to seven boards and five steals.

High Tech SD's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Eastlake, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.

High Tech SD wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 63-11 win against High Tech NC on the 16th. As for Eastlake, they have also already played their next matchup, a 60-51 defeat against San Diego on the 16th.
