Basketball Recap: Towanda Black Knights vs. Troy Trojans
Towanda lost against Troy back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Towanda Black Knights lost 77-54 to the Troy Trojans. While losing is never fun, the Black Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 367th, while the Trojans are ranked 161st).
Troy found their leader in sophomore Giana Renzi, who went 10 of 14 on her way to 27 points in addition to seven boards and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Renzi has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyssa Parks, who almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine rebounds.
Towanda dropped their record down to 3-6 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Troy, their win bumped their record up to 6-4.
Towanda will venture away from home to take on Williamsport at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Towanda has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Troy, they will challenge Athens at 4:15 p.m. on Saturday. Troy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.2 points per game this season.
