Basketball Recap: Milpitas Extends Winning Streak to Three

If North Salinas wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Milpitas, they should've done a better job of containing Jovalin Victorino. The Milpitas Trojans really took it to the North Salinas Vikings for the full four quarters, racking up a 56-25 win thanks in part to Victorino, who posted 14 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals. Those four steals gave her a new career-high.

Another player making a difference was Jadyn Little, who had eight points and five steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played.

The victory was the third in a row for Milpitas, bringing their record for this year to 5-5. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 26.3 points per game. As for North Salinas, they dropped their record down to 0-5 with the loss, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.

Milpitas will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Prospect at 6:30 p.m. on December 30th. Milpitas has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. North Salinas and Coalinga will round out the year against one another at at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Coalinga is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.5 points per game this season.
