Soccer Game Preview: Montgomery vs. Hilltop

Montgomery has won four straight games at home, while Hilltop has won four straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Thursday. The Montgomery Aztecs will host the Hilltop Lancers at 6:00 p.m. One thing working in Montgomery's favor is that they have posted at least four goals in their last three games.

Last Tuesday, Montgomery made easy work of Sweetwater and carried off a 4-1 win. Considering the Aztecs have won seven contests by more than two goals this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Hilltop kept a clean sheet against Southwest SD on Tuesday. They walked away with a 2-0 victory over the Raiders. Given the Lancers' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 237th, while the Raiders are ranked 623rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Hannah Gomez and Viviana Villalpando scored both of Hilltop's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 14 goals.

Hilltop has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 47 goals over those 12 games. As for Montgomery, their win bumped their record up to 13-7.
