Del Lago Academy waltzed into their game on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top against the Escondido Adventist Academy Hawks by a score of 39-31. This was payback for the Firebirds, who suffered a 35-34 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Emma Stephens was her usual excellent self, putting up 17 points. Sophie Berzanski was another key player, posting 11 points.

Del Lago Academy's win bumped their record up to 8-5. As for Escondido Adventist Academy, they moved to 6-4 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Del Lago Academy won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against San Pasqual at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. That contest will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Jackie Perez and Stephens. As for Escondido Adventist Academy, they will welcome San Diego Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday.
