Softball Recap: Montezuma-Cortez Drops Season-High Score on Aspen

Montezuma-Cortez extended their winning streak to four on Tuesday, bumping them up to 6-12. Everything went their way against the Aspen Skiers as they made off with a 26-8 win. The Panthers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Raegan Veach was a standout: she went 2-for-5 with three stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Cejae Snyder, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and two runs.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Montezuma-Cortez kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Aspen only managed six hits.

As for Aspen, their loss dropped their record down to 0-5. That's two games in a row now that they have lost by exactly 18 runs.

On Aspen's side, Hailey Lapin was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs. Annaliese Ingram was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Looking ahead, Montezuma-Cortez will challenge Alamosa at 3:00 p.m. on the 25th. As for Aspen, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Moffat County at 4:00 p.m.
