Baseball Recap: Archbishop Mitty Takes a Loss

Archbishop Mitty had lost four straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped down to 15-11 to make it five. They lost 10-1 to the Valley Christian Warriors. The Monarchs were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Warriors earlier this season, when they won 9-8.

Archbishop Mitty got a good showing from Nico Mata, who tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Mata has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Archbishop Mitty saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Max Whelan, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one RBI.

As for Valley Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games.

On Valley Christian's side, Rahul Patel got the start for Valley Christian and what a start it was: he pitched 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.

At the plate, Nathan Choi was incredible, firing off two home runs and five RBI while going 2-for-3. Those two home runs gave him a new career-high. Jayden Mamea also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

As of now, neither Archbishop Mitty nor Valley Christian have any future games scheduled.
