Baseball Recap: Seckinger Comes Up Short

Seckinger suffered their closest loss since April 25, 2024 on Monday. They fell just short of the Gainesville Red Elephants by a score of 3-1.

Harry Pirkle spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up nine Ks. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in February.

At the plate, Seckinger saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sam Melanson, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.

Seckinger's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-6. As for Gainesville, they pushed their record up to 7-12 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road.

While Seckinger had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
