Baseball Game Preview: Roswell Hornets vs. Seckinger Jaguars

The Roswell Hornets will face off against the Seckinger Jaguars at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Roswell has three straight victories, Seckinger has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Roswell is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Lanier on Friday as Roswell made off with an 18-3 win.

Meanwhile, Seckinger suffered their biggest loss since April 20, 2024 on Friday. They came up short against Gainesville, falling 8-1.

Seckinger got a good showing from Steven Byers, who tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Byers has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Seckinger saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was EJ Hannah, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Roswell's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-7. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Seckinger, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-8.

Roswell skirted past Seckinger 7-6 in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Does Roswell have another victory up their sleeve, or will Seckinger turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
