Blue Mountain unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell 34-27 to the Schuylkill Haven Hurricanes on Friday. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Hurricanes apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.

Blue Mountain's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Chase Guers, who picked up 98 receiving yards and one TD, and Cohen Kirby, who threw for 175 yards and one touchdown. Speaking of playmakers, who could forget Reese Miller, who went all the way with a kickoff return for a touchdown.

Most of the squad's points came courtesy of special teams, who contributed 15 in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Guers, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

Colton Reber was nothing short of spectacular for Schuylkill Haven: he rushed for 205 yards and a pair of scores on only 13 carries, and also caught one TD. Those 205 rushing yards gave Reber a new career-high. Niko Carestia was another key player, gaining 165 total yards and a touchdown.
