Softball Recap: Englewood Comes Up Short

After flying high against Aurora Central on Friday, Englewood came back down to earth. The Pirates fell just short of the Jefferson Academy Jaguars by a score of 7-6 on Saturday. The loss continues a trend for the Pirates in their meetings with the Jaguars: they've now lost four in a row.

Sloan Stevens was huge no matter where she played even without the win. On the mound, she struck out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up seven earned runs off nine hits. Stevens was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run and one double.

Englewood's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Jefferson Academy beat the Pirates by a score of 21-7 later that day.
