Softball Game Preview: Penney Hornets vs. Chillicothe Hornets

Penney will challenge Chillicothe at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Penney 2.4, Chillicothe 2.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.

While Penney didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They walked away with a 9-4 victory over Plattsburg on Thursday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Hornets.

Meanwhile, Chillicothe sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 win over Benton on Thursday. The victory continues a trend for the Hornets in their matchups with the Cardinals: they've now won five in a row.

Penney's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Chillicothe, their victory bumped their record up to 17-5.

Penney came out on top in a nail-biter against Chillicothe in their previous meeting back in September of 2023, sneaking past 6-5. Will Penney repeat their success, or does Chillicothe has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
