Basketball Recap: Dominguez Takes a Loss

Dominguez and Leuzinger squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Dominguez had to settle for second. They fell to the Leuzinger Olympians 49-43.

Despite the loss, Dominguez still got an impressive performance from KAYLA SCOTT, who dropped a double-double with 16 points and ten rebounds. SCOTT's evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of DARIYA SNYDER, who posted five points in addition to five boards and five steals.

Even though they lost, Dominguez smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in seven consecutive games.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Leuzinger to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tatyana Aubry, who scored 21 points and five rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Aubry has scored at least a third of Leuzinger's points. Brianna Ike was another key player, putting up 16 points along with six boards and three blocks.

Dominguez's loss dropped their record down to 23-5. As for Leuzinger, their victory bumped their record up to 16-14.

Dominguez does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Leuzinger, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 64-51 win against Milken on the 15th.
