Football Recap: Murphy Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Murphy managed to slip by Heard County the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Bulldogs were beaten by the Braves 42-10 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Bulldogs have suffered since August 23, 2024.

Murphy lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Ryan Payne, who picked up 104 receiving yards and one score. He showed off some serious burst, lighting up the secondary with a catch for 56 yards.

A big part of Heard County's win came down to the chemistry between Ethan Tisdale and his top target Darience Coleman. Tisdale gained 226 total yards while Coleman rushed for 133 yards and three TDs on only 14 carries.

Murphy's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Heard County, they pushed their record up to 3-0 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Murphy will host East Surry at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Heard County, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Bowdon at 7:30 p.m. on the 12th.
