Basketball Game Preview: Fairmont Prep Huskies vs. Mater Dei Monarchs

Fairmont Prep hasn't had much luck against Mater Dei recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Fairmont Prep Huskies will challenge the Mater Dei Monarchs at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Fairmont Prep's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 19 games.

Fairmont Prep heads in on the heels of a playoff match on Saturday. They were outmatched by Etiwanda and fell 96-57. The Huskies were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 50-25.

Meanwhile, Mater Dei entered their tilt with Windward on Saturday with 15 consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with 16. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Wildcats 62-35. The Monarchs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 19 contests by 20 points or more this season.

Mater Dei's victory was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 27-2. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.9 points over those games. As for Fairmont Prep, their loss dropped their record down to 20-9.

Things could have been worse for Fairmont Prep, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 65-46 loss to Mater Dei when the teams last played back in December of 2024. Can Fairmont Prep avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
