Basketball Game Preview: Cajon Cowboys vs. San Jacinto Tigers

The Cajon Cowboys will venture away from home to square off against the San Jacinto Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

While Cajon didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They snuck past Liberty with a 39-33 victory on Friday.

Cajon's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Bjork Ponder led the charge by dropping a double-double with 20 points and ten boards. Those 20 points gave Ponder a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ja'Niya Zamora, who posted 11 points and seven steals.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when San Jacinto faced off against Canyon Springs on Friday. The Tigers walked away with a 60-48 win over the Cougars. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Tigers as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

The win was their first at home , bumping their record up to 2-4. As for Cajon, their record now sits at 6-3.

Cajon and San Jacinto were neck-and-neck in their previous meeting back in November of 2022, but Cajon came up empty-handed after a 46-45 loss. Can the Cowboys avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
