Softball Recap: Rocky Mountain Takes a Loss

Rocky Mountain had lost five straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Saturday they dropped down to 2-3 to make it six. They came up short against the Riverdale Ridge Ravens, falling 10-0. The matchup marked the first time this year in which the Lobos were not able to get on the board.

Rocky Mountain saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ariana Jackson, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double.

As for Riverdale Ridge, the victory was the 23rd in a row (dating back to last season) for them, bringing their record up to 3-0. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games.

On Riverdale Ridge's side, the team relied heavily on Sammie Simmons, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Jaeanna Sandoval was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Coming up, Rocky Mountain will be playing in front of their home fans against Fort Collins at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lobos' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Lambkins have averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season. As for Riverdale Ridge, they will hit the road for the first time this season to challenge Columbine at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
