Hempfield Area extends road losing streak to three

Recap: Hempfield Area Spartans vs. Pine-Richland Rams

After soaring to 59 points the game before, the Hempfield Area Spartans were a bit more limited in their game on Wednesday. The New Year welcomed they with a 59-23 whooping from Pine-Richland. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Hempfield Area has scored all season.

It was another big night for Madison Zavasky, who dropped a double-double on 32 points and 22 rebounds for Pine-Richland. The matchup was Zavasky's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Catherine Gentile was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with 13 rebounds and three blocks.

Hempfield Area bumped their record down to 7-3 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Pine-Richland, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-6.

Hempfield Area is on the road again on Thursday and play against Seneca Valley at 7:30 p.m. on January 4th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Pennsylvania (Seneca Valley is ranked 98th, while Hempfield Area is ranked 76th). As for Pine-Richland, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome North Allegheny at 7:00 p.m. on January 4th.
