West Valley put the finishing touches on their 13th blowout victory of the season on Friday. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 71-42 victory over Yreka. With West Valley ahead 40-17 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
West Valley got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kayla Wiley out in front who scored nine points along with eight rebounds and six steals. Wiley is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games she's played. Whitney King was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Lassen came up short against University Prep on Friday and fell 44-31. While losing is never fun, Lassen can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 657th, while University Prep is ranked 155th).
West Valley is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 16 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. As for Lassen, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-13 record this season.
