Basketball Recap: NOVA Academy Eagles vs. Costa Mesa Mustangs
NOVA Academy kicked off their season on the road on Monday and hit a couple of potholes. They lost 55-32 to the Costa Mesa Mustangs. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Eagles of the 57-30 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January.
Costa Mesa was led to victory by Leilani Quero and Aaliyah Terry. Quero earned 18 points plus five steals, while Terry dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Ariana Mendoza, who scored eight points in addition to eight rebounds.
NOVA Academy will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Norco at 6:00 p.m. on December 5th. As for Costa Mesa, they will take on Estancia at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
