Softball Recap: NEN Wins Going Away Against Polk County

NEN lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Polk County, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Saturday's game. NEN blew past Polk County 8-0 on Saturday. For NEN, this counts as revenge for the 10-8 victory Polk County walked away with the last time they faced one another back in August of 2023.

Mady Dolliver made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. Dolliver was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bella Lewison, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Karlie Rutar, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

NEN was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Polk County only posted a batting average of .150.

NEN now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Polk County, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

NEN has already played their next match, a 7-1 win against Platteview on the 23rd. As for Polk County, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 5-4 victory against Raymond Central on the 23rd.
