Basketball Recap: Clovis Comes Up Short

Clovis and Cardinal Newman squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Clovis had to settle for second. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 62-61 to the Cardinal Newman Cardinals. The Cougars were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Cardinals earlier this season, when they won 60-44.

Clovis' defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 25-9. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.0 points over those games. As for Cardinal Newman, they are on a roll lately: they've won 20 of their last 22 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 27-5 record this season.

Clovis does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Cardinal Newman, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Cardinal Newman Cardinals take on Carondelet Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. They will need to watch out since Carondelet has now posted at least 55 points in their last four contests.
