Basketball Recap: Rancho Buena Vista Victorious

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Rancho Buena Vista had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They secured a 45-40 W over the Oceanside Pirates. The Longhorns haven't had any issues with the Pirates recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Rancho Buena Vista had a senior duo take command as Kylie Salzler dropped a double-double with 15 points and 13 rebounds and Tiaira Richardson posted ten points and six boards. That's the most boards Salzler has posted since back in December of 2024. Camille Dake was another key player, putting up eight points and ten rebounds.

Rancho Buena Vista was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Oceanside only five assists.

When it comes to explaining why Oceanside lost, don't look at Martina Griffin. Despite the final result, she almost dropped a double-double with 29 points and nine boards. Griffin has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times she's played.

Rancho Buena Vista's record now sits at 22-8. As for Oceanside, their loss dropped their record down to 13-15.

Looking ahead, Rancho Buena Vista will challenge Carlsbad at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Rancho Buena Vista is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.2 points per game this season. Oceanside does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
