The Poolesville Falcons baseball team scored 7 points and limited the host Blake Bengals to 6 in the Falcons non-league victory on Saturday.

The Falcons (7-8) will now prepare for their match against Johnson (Bethesda, MD). The Wildcats go into the non-league match with a 11-5 record. In their last match, Johnson tipped Bethesda-Chevy Chase (Bethesda, MD), 5-1, in a non-league match.

The Bengals (11-4) will now prepare for their match against Paint Branch (Burtonsville, MD). The Panthers go into the non-league match with a 7-8 record. In their last match, Paint Branch was edged by Gaithersburg (Gaithersburg, MD), 6-5, in a non-league match.

The Falcons used late heroics to upend Blake 7-6 scoring 3 runs in the top of the 7th inning for the victory.

Jimmy Tyler pitched 6 strong innings giving up 6 runs, all in the first and second innings followed up by four shutout innings.

Heading into the 7th the Falcons needed two runs to tie and three to take the lead. Andy Mlynarczyk started the inning with a single up the middle. Tyler then was hit by the pitch setting up 1st and 2nd with no one out. Drew Karlin then hit a grounder that made it by the 2nd baseman scoring Mlynarczyk from 2nd. Werkmann was then intentionally walked to load the bases with on one out. On the 1-0 pitch the runners began moving on the suicide squeeze call. Schramm laid down the perfect bunt easily scoring Tyler from third to tie the game. Schramm was called out at first and then the throw came home to attempt to get Karlin. Karlin was able to score putting the Falcons up 7-6 where it would end after Werkmann came in to pitch the 7th.
