The South River Seahawks got by the visiting Fallston Cougars baseball team by a count of 5-4 in Wednesday's non-league bout.

The Seahawks now possess a 5-2 record. They take the field next when they host Annapolis for a Anne Arundel County bout on Tuesday, April 10. South River will face a Panthers team coming off a 10-2 league loss to Severna Park (Severna Park, MD). The Panthers record now stands at 0-4.

Next, the Cougars face the Northeast Eagles (Pasadena, MD) in a non-league bout, on Thursday, April 5. Fallston will attempt to move on its 1-7 season record. The Eagles enter the bout with a 4-1 record after their 5-1 league win over Chesapeake (Pasadena, MD).

South River tops Fallston in back-and-forth Spring Break game, 5-4

The Seahawks battled for the second time in the day coming from behind to win. South River and Fallston traded the lead multiple times at Joe Cannon Stadium in a Spring Break game, but South River ended up on top 5-4 in seven innings over Fallston.

South River pulled out the win thanks to a strong seventh inning where smart batters loaded the bases on walks and the winning run crossed the plate when Scott Mitchell was hit by pitch.

Bryan Shores, Craig Sheridan, Nick Raimondo, and Gabe Vertucci all collected hits for South River.

Sheridan threw strikes on 62 of his 101 pitches. Sheridan collected five strike outs and walked two for South River.

South River jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the the first. Vertucci singled to ignite South River's offense. A groundout by Joe Scott then moved Vertucci from first to second. Then a sacrifice fly by Connor Cox scored Vertucci. Later, Bryan Shores doubled.
